Pop Links

It will now be Kate Plus 8....then it will most likely be just the 8.

Ryan Seacrest drunk

Angelina Jolie wears long black dress to the supermarket.

I can't believe how much the cast of The Hills makes. Check out their disturbing high salaries!

Did anyone catch the first two episodes of Beautiful Life? It's canceled anyway.

A pretty awful looking child's Halloween costume

As I was browsing for Halloween costumes online for the baby I came across this one. Wow! What happened to this outfit? Called The Infant Girls Sock Monkey Ballerina Costume, it looks like a mess!

My take is: The sock monkey got drunk and then while trying to put on some lipstick, tripped over some ballerina girl. The two got glued together by the little girls' snot and this is them in the waiting room in the hospital.

Successfully explaining sex scenes to a 3-year-old

My son has been asking a lot of questions lately. I get asked things like, "Do apple juice come from apples?" and "Why are the car's lights on?"

Well on Saturday, while watching a sex scene in The Notebook, the little guy looked up from playing cars and starting watching the movie. First of all, I didn't expect to see any sex scenes as I thought The Notebook was a pretty family-friendly love drama. To my surprise when the two main characters started going at it, it became a tad uncomfortable as me and Mr Mogul sat there laying limp on the couch.

The kid asked "What is she doing?"

(SCENE 1: Actress is panting and sweating while taking off her clothes)

Mr. Mogul replies, "She's hot so she's taking off her clothes."

(SCENE 2: Guy actor is taking off girl's pants. Camera zooms onto her long naked leg stretching out)

The kid then asks, "What are they doing?"

Mr. Mogul replies, "He's changing her diaper."

I added, "Yeah...her diaper is stinky!"

I then laughed. Yep, and the kid bought it! Whew, safe call.

Oh, and the reason I didn't rush to turn the channel was because I was glued to the couch and exhausted. I also was into this sappy film!

Coke bottles walk Milan runway...really!

Photobucket
Even bottles are getting to walk the catwalk! As reported by New York magazine, Coca-Cola Light, held a fashion show in Milan to raise money following last year's tragic earthquake in Abruzzo. Profits will help get young women affected by the quake scholarships.

Moschino, Versace and Etro all dressed the bottles. Backstage, the bottles sipped champagne and bitched about each other before the show.

40 is the new 25!

Photobucket
This OK cover made me laugh today. Not like I'm a big Jennifer Aniston or anything but the mags should leave her alone.

Excerpt from so-called sources:

“Jen’s made no secret of the fact she wants to get pregnant,” says the source. “Now, with nothing on her schedule for a while, she can relax and address the priorities that matter most — and motherhood is right at the top of her list.

“She wants to have a baby soon,” adds the insider. “And has set her heart on getting pregnant before her 41st birthday.”

Who are these so-called sources? Assistants? Make-up artists? Stylists? I guess they have a movie to sell so anything like concentrating on the star's womb will help promote it.

Cell phones can be creepy during labor

On Sunday morning my friend had her baby. The weird part was that I knew when it happened.

Here is the story:

On Saturday night I decided to put my cell phone on the nightstand next to me. I left it on. Usually I put it away downstairs so this was unusual.

In the middle of the night the phone rang. It was 3:35am. I saw my friend's name on the display screen and answered. I heard people talking in the background but no one was talking to me. I hung up and went back to sleep.

On Sunday morning I called my friend. She was in the hospital resting after having delivered her baby! She gave birth at the exact time my cell phone rang! She was not dialing me at all but screaming in pain. How the buttons on her phone decided to call me who knows?

Smiley

Whenever someone asks me if I'm going to have another baby, I just laugh it off. No way! I am done! I am happy with my boy and girl.

She will be one in two weeks. How time flies!

Happy (sort of pissy) Monday

Happy Monday! I've had less than four hours of sleep so I am pissy and emotional. I did find time to start my contest today. Anyone want to win a cool new umbrella stroller?

I missed the VMA Music Awards last night so I missed all the talked about moments.

While running around Manhattan last week, I was telling my husband I wish we could find one of these sweet treats vans!

Anyone want to buy an emotional baby face?

Gwen Stefani premieres her new L.A.M.B collection

Photobucket
Gwen Stefani held her L.A.M.B fashion show yesterday in NYC. When I was there last week, I passed the Bryant Park Tents everyday. I really wanted to crash the shows but held back. My sister, who works in the fashion industry, didn't even go to the shows.

I've read a lot of great reviews of her collection. (From USA Today: Most items will range from $48 to $345, and the line mixes draped separates, sturdy jackets, skinny jeans and leopard accents in neutral colors with pops of electric purple, red and yellow.)
Here she is in the audience with her kid. Look at the expression of the mom behind her. She looks pissed!

Nicole Richie gives son a bird name

From Nicole Richie's site:

In the middle of night, the very early hours of September 9, 2009
Sparrow James Midnight Madden was born to Nicole Richie and Joel Madden.

He weighs 7lbs 14oz. Nicole, Joel, Harlow and Sparrow are all doing
well. Thank you for all of your good wishes.

Alright, I'm open to baby names but Sparrow just sucks. I blame the Twitter bird for this.

My vacation was spent dodging Bugaboos and toning my calves

I am back from vacation. It was a great, long week spent spending time with family and friends in New York City. I can write a book about what happened during our trip!

First we stayed in a hotel in Times Square. We were right across ABC Studios so I could see Diane Sawyer's back during the live shows. The only reason we stayed in that area was because of the easy access to the subway and since my parents live in Queens, it was a short train ride to their home.

Since I've been living in the suburbs for awhile it was weird to see the dirt on the streets! When I lived in the city I didn't even notice. I also hated riding in the subway with the kids. Since becoming a mother I've become such a germ fighter. Oh and another thing I don't miss? The random crazy person ranting away or crouched on the subway stairs.

Now on to the positive parts. We ate a lot of yummy food. Oh how I miss the bakeries! We also walked a lot! On Saturday, we trekked along the Hudson River walkway all the way to the East Side, pushing the kids in the Phil & Ted's double stroller against all the Bugaboo ones. My sister and two friends tagged along and I felt like we were in the Wizard of Oz, going on a window shopping adventure. We walked so much my legs were going to fall off. It's a good workout if you want to get toned calves.

We spent five nights in the city and it wasn't enough time. I realized it sucks to visit when you have young kids because you can't go out to bars and run around freely like me and my husband used to. Do I miss that time in my life? A little. Next time babysitters will have to be arranged so I can experience running around bars and then realize that I am now older and don't have the energy anymore and be grateful I have two cute kids.
