Friday fashion talk: Models, Mamas and Manhattan

I rolled my eyes when I first heard about Models of the Runway, the spinoff show Lifetime has in store after Project Runway. However, after watching the trailer (and you know you want to watch too) I think I might tune in to this. Who doesn't like bitching models claw each other out? I know...the drammma...but if everyone just kissed and hugged it would be pretty boring TV.

As for models, I wrote about Jude Law knocking up some Florida model yesterday. Is this woman (a) just a girl that saw Jude at a club and said, let me get pregnant because I want to get famous or (b) a naive girl who fell for someone with an English accent? (Look at me! I fell for an accent and now am married to him with two kids!)

Right now I'm not in NYC. I do plan to be there soon. Manhattan! Yes, I miss the buzz and the social life. (read about my post on socialites) Is Manhattan a place to grow up kids? Not really. If I had a $20 million pad would I raise the kids there? MOST CERTAINLY!

Suburban life has been good. I love living in a house with 4 levels! I do miss hanging out in the city and do plan to push the kiddies in the stroller around town soon. Miss decent food!

Pop and Kid Links

Jude Law got some knocked up over Christmas and just found out he's going to have a fourth kid!

I just discovered a magazine called Baby Couture. Scott Baio, wife and baby are on the current cover.

A new Toy Story movie is coming out. Now that our son is old enough to appreciate movies, he will probably love it!

Now your children can have a breastfeeding doll! Stupid or cool idea?

I'm a stroller pro now!

I was browsing for stories to write for Babycenter FAMEbaby when I came across this picture of Matt Damon's wife Luciana pushing a Joovy Caboose. At first I didn't know it was a Joovy, because this couple has a zillion dollars and could be pushing a BOB, Bugaboo, or a Stokke. This double stroller only costs $150!

I've become laughingly a stroller snob. Since I review them and have them to use for my kids, I really know what makes a good ride. I am waiting for someone to invent one with a third seat so that moms can sit in them and just push a bunch of buttons for it to move itself.

Personal updates 7/22

How has your summer been going? I have been enjoying the sunshine and being very busy with my two kiddies. The 9-month-old has been really active! She can't stop moving. Today she stood by herself for a record 30 seconds!
Photobucket
The preschooler has been busy too! Lots of activities such as music class, running around our backyard and watching The Bachelorette with me (I can't believe I got sucked into this show!)

As for me? I'm busy writing and wishing I was going to Blogher (any last minute sponsors want to jet set me over there?) We're saving up for a vacation instead.

P.S my feedburner count has increased! If you are a subscriber, thanks! Do you like me sharing more personal stuff or do you like the pop culture updates? Later!

Peek into David Arquette's box during hunger campaign

Photobucket
Last week David Arquette stood on Madison Square Garden to yap about starving people in America.

I just thought it was a little ironic that Snickers would be a part of this. "Yeah people! Let's help starving people with chocolate! Let them gain weight and cavities too!"

Check out the plastic box he was staying in. He had furniture and everything! Wonder if there was a TV in it too?

Baby update and news on two reality shows

Photobucket
Boy, we're in trouble. Our 9-month-old is now crawling, standing up for a few seconds on her own and even climbing stairs! I can't keep up!

She has developed so fast in the past two months. She is now 19 lbs and is in the 90% in height.

A good thing is now I can put her in the crib and she will go to sleep on her own. The bad part? She still wakes up to nurse in the middle of the night and she winds up in our bed 'til the morning.

This morning the husband hugged me and reminisced about the times when we would just arrange our Caribbean cruises. Sigh! Now I've gone from Caribbean cruises to perhaps Disney type ones? Ack!

For reality show fans here is some news....

Even though last season's Real Housewives of New York City was extremely catty I watched it. Bethany Frankel has left the show to do her own. The Bravo show is called Skinny and The City. HOW original is that?

For Project Runway fans the show is coming to Lifetime On August 20. Not only will you get the show, you'll get a Project Runway All Stars edition featuring past cast members to air right before the premiere. If that isn't enough, after PR ends you'll get a new show called Models of the Runway, which will feature 16 of the models from the shows. Is this PR overkill?!

Miley Cyrus on Elle

Photobucket
Miley Cyrus (who looks older than 16) is on the August issue of Elle and ug...she's got a new clothing line at Wal-Mart.

The teen says,“The jeans are my favorite part of the entire line. Because, like, literally this is going to be good for, like, Middle America, and it will be great for kids that really want to be in fashion but that don’t have it available.”

Book review: If You Give A Mom A Martini

Photobucket
If You Give A Mom A Martini...100 ways to find 10 blissful minutes for yourself by Julie Klappas and Lyss Stern is a small book with pampering tips for moms who just need to chill. When I sat down to read it, I was escaping from the stress of the two kids at the time. It was a welcome break.

On each page there's an idea on what to do for yourself. For example "Tend To Your Kneads" says go and get a foot massage at a nail salon. Ahh yes! That one is a common thing to do but I have never heard of tip #48, "Chocolate Indulgence", a simple recipe containing orange juice, chocolate powder and ice. Contributors include Kelly Ripa, who reveal what they do on a mom's break.

Published by Clarkson Potters this book is $16.95. This book would be a good gift for someone who just needs a smile and a break for the kids!
