It happened in Cairo!
I got very shocking news on Sunday. Put everything down and read closely (my friend gave me total permission to blog this!)
My friend in New Jersey, (let's call her Cape Girl), went on vacation to Cairo, Egypt with her friend and their kids two weeks ago. Fine. Cool. Sounds like a fun and exotic time for Cape Girl and her 9-year-old daughter. Well on Sunday as we were IM'ing, she tells me she GOT MARRIED to an Egyptian man last week! At first I thought she was kidding but she assured me she was not. She and this guy have been IM'ing for months and had arranged to tie the knot! This was the first time she met him! She told no one, not me or her family so this was a total shock! Cape Girl told me his family was very receptive and her daughter likes him.
Wait there's more. Cape Girl is 42 and this Egyptian guy is 25! What a cougar! Now she has to deal with getting him over to New Jersey. She has hired a lawyer to do this. Sounds crazy eh? Cape Girl says she's happy so I'm supportive.
Movie pitch: Egyptian guy meets American girl. She flies in and they get married! He goes from vendors selling snake soup to the suburbs of New Jersey where he quickly picks up the accent and starts ordering Hoagies! Quick! Get Jennifer Lopez on board!
This story sounds much better than the Cameron Diaz/Ashton Kutcher dud we rented this weekend, It Happened In Vegas.
