Book pick today: Joy of Pregnancy
I especially took careful reading into the All About Labor chapter. Whether I will follow the breathing techniques during contractions, who knows! A lot of the information I already know so I think this book is best for first time pregnant women. If any of my NYC friends ever get knocked up, I would give it to them.
In the Choices and Cravings chapter the author mentions servings sizes. For example, one serving of cheese is equal to two 9 volt-batteries and one serving of fruit is a tennis ball. When I ate the batteries and tennis ball, I realized it didn't help my cravings.
The book is written by Tori Kropp, a childbirth educator and nurse (so she is experienced). I did find The Joy of Pregnancy a little bit too technical and not very personal, but if you're looking for a manual and something other than the 8th million updated version of What To Expect When You're Expecting then it's for you. You can buy it on Amazon for $11.96.
