I almost stopped the posing

We went to our friend's new club in the West Village twice last week. Pretend you have an apple martini in your hand and read my story (oh and Happy New Year!):

As I walked into Le Royale with Mr. Mogul I noticed glass chandeliers on the ceiling and two porcelain Buddha statues at the bar. Since I know our owner friend wants to attract models to the place I knew they were going to be the only two fat bellies there. It's a nice size, not too big and not so small that you can see into someone's ear wax. I mean the place not the bellies.

We sat down in the VIP area and just relaxed. Even though the baby was with his grandparents, I still managed to picture him climbing on top of the glass tables. Two lanky guys showed up and it was obvious one of them was the DJ as he had the "DJ Hair". (DJ Hair usually looks unwashed and lopsided)

I felt ancient since I realized DJs don't spin with records anymore. Where the f@ck have I been? Oh yeeahh....I had a baby! All the music now comes through a computer laptop. I made a mental note to practice mixing at home on my Mac. My former DJ name of "Sex on the Decks" is now "Sex on the Laptop" (not as catchy I know)

Pretty soon the VIP area filled up as there was a group that ordered a bucket of drinks. Looking from afar it reminded me of a herd of horses being fed a bucket of hay. When the music got to a thumping beat, I noticed they started almost posing. The hostess of the group wore a glittery silver dress and had a wild curly mane. She kept jumping from person to person kissing their cheeks, covering their faces with her hair.

I just sat there and wondered how could I stop the posing? Tip the carafe of cranberry juice that sat at their table? Yell out, "All the models from America's Next Top Model just walked in!" or replace the wall mirrors with House of Fun ones?

After about thirty minutes I let them continue posing. The hostess was still kissing cheeks and I wasn't going to rain on their cocktails. In two years they can be like me, sit on the couch and watch the next generation of party goers pose!
